Currently unable to see anything from the game. I can hear what sounds like a UI and Menu. But the screen is completely dark, obscuring everything but the game’s cursor-image. As of right now, I think this rating is justified, as well as a caution to those who might want to buy it.

Hello,
Thank you for your report, and we’re sorry for the issue you’re experiencing.
This appears to be related to individual NVIDIA GPU settings. We recommend disabling Multi-Frame Sampled AA (MFAA), FXAA, and setting “Antialiasing – Mode” to off.
Could you try these adjustments and let us know if the issue persists?
Best regards,
Kagura Games Staff.

The pixel artwork in Succubus Forest is very well done, but unfortunately the gameplay didn’t hold my interest. In particular, there are 5 things dragging it down:
1. There’s no option to skip dialogue and animations, the latter of which are okay the first few times but quickly become tedious when you’re trying to get through a run.
2. I would have liked to see more story or characterization. The short scenes between fights are really only there so you can edit your inventory, and can be completely nonsensical at times (possibly a translation issue).
3. The loop is too long. Maybe if you could speed up events and battles (as per Point 1) it would be better, but at the current pace, it feels monotonous.
4. Failing a loop gives no benefits. In the best looping games, you’re excited to try again because you’ve either gained new items/skills or you’ve come up with new strategies. Succubus Forest doesn’t really offer either.
5. There’s a “click alternating buttons on your mouse/keyboard as fast as you can to escape taking damage” meter that pops up far too often. I’m not sure if it’s because I’m old or because I’m lazy (possibly both), but I almost never enjoy this mechanic.
TLDR: This developer is clearly capable of producing excellent pixel animations. If they can pair their high-quality art with better game design, they should have a winner on their hands, but, at least for me, Succubus Forest isn’t it.

Firstly, the black screen issue was resolved via the advice given (and shared). It was a pleasant surprise to be reached out to and helped in this way. I personally appreciated the effort.
Secondly, Succubus Forest is, in its foundation, a Deck-based Rogue-lite game. The game is not very difficult – I reached the final boss relatively quickly with only one real strategy: Aero Card, Block-conversion, and the Wind Scroll equipment – even on Hard mode. The replayability is definitely lacking, because this Rogue-Lite has no New-Game+ mechanics. But I think it still serves as a lot of simple fun just purposely meta-gaming a run.
Everyone’s here for the scenes and the graphics. The pixel-graphics are very, VERY good, in my humble opinion. The creator does an excellent job in portraying even small details like facial expressions become a highlight for the visual aesthetic. The game provides some cut-scene-like art as well, though it’s not as prevalent as the in-game “lose” scenes. There is a Gallery for you to make use of as you collect more scenes.
Overall:
I’d definitely love to see more of this hybrid between rogue-lite and H-game. I personally enjoyed the game aspect a lot (because I like unbalancing deck-builds). The H-aspect is more geared towards the Male-Submissive type, with a variety of “losing” positions. Get this game if you want to actually play a game, while expecting certain elements to entertain you once you choose to delve into that portion of your purchase.

Finally Kagura Games gives us another game where the women hold the power, and people are out here complaining about permanent progression and stuff. The only permanent progression I care about is completing that gallery, which was immensely fun and rewarding. (Just stick to hard mode or it’s gonna be an unrewarding endeavor.)
I really loved this. Beautiful animations, great dialogue and fun gameplay. More of this, please.
